Bridget M. Widel, nee O’Sullivan, of Smithton, IL, born in County Wicklow, Ireland, died Friday, September 18, 2015, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Widel was a clerk for the Wabash Railroad before her retirement.  She also worked as a waitress at the former Hi-Ho Restaurant in Belleville.

Bridget was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Widel, whom she married on June 11, 1955, and who died on April 12, 1974; a son, William Widel; and her parents, John and Annie, nee O’Hara, O’Sullivan.

Fred (Clare) Widel of Belleville, IL,
Brenda Widel of Belleville, IL,
and Joseph (Kimberly) Widel of Smithton, IL;
six grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Gilmore,
Aaron (Sarah) Abeyta,
James Weihl,
twins, Lindsey and McKenzie Widel,
and Nicholas Widel;
two great-grandchildren, Johnathon and Sophia Gilmore;
two sisters, Nancy Fenneng of Manchester, England,
and Eileene Byrne of Shellagh, Ireland;
two brothers-in-law, Edward Quigley,
and Robert (Cathy) Widel;
one sister-in-law, Geraldine Widel;
and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Belleville Area Humane Society or to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015, at The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL, with Fr. Stanley Konieczny officiating.

Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Smithton, IL.
