Vera was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. Early in her career as a master seamstress, Vera made flags and uniforms during WWII. She was a self-employed custom drapery and slipcover maker. In retirement Vera enjoyed quilting for the St. Teresa Quilting Club. Vera loved animals of all kinds, especially her dog, Kayla, her cat, Katie, and her parrot, Abdul.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Louise, nee Baechle, Becherer; six brothers, Henry, Lawrence, Leander, Lester, Herbert, and Ervin Becherer; and one sister, Adeline Fournie.
Surviving are her four children, Thomas L. (Marylou) Huling of Fairview Heights, IL, Jerry L. (Dana) of Littleton, CO, Janet L. Huling of Denver, CO, and Joseph J. (Catherine) of Belleville, IL;
five grandchildren, Matthew Huling of Fairview Heights, IL, Lucas (Amanda) Huling of Edwardsville, IL, Jesse (Jessica) Huling of Austin, TX, Zachary Huling of Los Angeles, CA and Natalie (Leon) Barnard of London, England;
four great-grandchildren, Justin, Haley, Brooke, and Drew Huling;
two sisters, Lillian Franke of Belleville, IL, and Marcella Stauder of Belleville, IL;
a sister-in-law, Carol Becherer of Belleville, IL;
and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Chapel at the Esquiline Apartment Community at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville, IL, with Fr. Joseph Ferraioli, O.M.I. officiating.
Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
