Gerald Dean “Jerry” Rall, 81, born August 24, 1935 in Elm Creek, NE, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the home of his son in Belleville, IL. Jerry battled cancer for more than ten years and was in hospice care for the last three months of his life.

Mr. Rall lived most of his life in Nebraska, between Kearney and Hastings.  In his working years, he worked at several locations in the parts department which included Fabick in Fenton, MO, Holt in Hastings, NE, and Fleet Pride in Hastings, NE.

Jerry was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed going to a game at any opportunity.  He was also ready to fire the manager after a two-game losing streak.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bobby” Rall; his parents, William and Virginia, nee Evans, Rall; a niece, Lori Rall; and a nephew, Steve Rall.

Surviving are a son, Michael D. Rall (Adele M. Roth MD) of Belleville, IL;
a daughter, Joan E. (Mark) Brauninger of Kansas City, MO;
two grandchildren, David L. Rall and Jillian Brauninger;
four brothers, John “Jack (Ruth) Rall of Kearney, NE,
James “Jim” (Donna) Rall of Lincoln, NE,
Joseph “Joe” Rall of Kearney, NE,
and Marvin “Marv” (Sharon) Rall of Kearney, NE.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The family would like to especially thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Southern Illinois for the wonderful care and support given to Jerry.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Fr. Nicholas Junker officiating.

Private burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Our thoughts & prayers are with you - Mike, Joan, and families. Though it had been awhile since we saw your Dad, it was always fun to visit with him & be remembered at Christmas.
