Helen Weiss

Helen B. Weiss, nee Haas, 87, of Freeburg, IL, born April 18, 1927, in Millstadt, IL, died Monday, March 23, 2015, at St. Paul’s Home, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Weiss was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Vernon C. Weiss, whom she married on April 1, 1951, and who died on June 10, 2009; a son, Jeffery Weiss; her parents, Adolph and Ella, nee Heller, Haas; four brothers, Edward Haas, Oliver Haas, Milton Haas, and Kenneth Haas, in infancy; and a sister, Marie Semmler.

Surviving are a son and two daughters, Michael (Michelle) Weiss of Damiansville, IL,
Barbara Weiss of South Bend, IN,
and Robin (Michael) Chandler of Belleville, IL;
four grandchildren, Eleanora “Ellie” (Byron) Hendrix,
Nathan (Nicole) Yoch, Caleb Weiss, and Elijah Weiss;
three great-grandchildren, Chiara, Ayden, and Daylon Hendrix;
two brothers, Floyd Haas of Belleville, IL,
and Kermit (Marylee) Haas of Green Valley, AZ;
a sister, Shirley Fenner of Belleville, IL;
a sister-in-law, Ann Haas;
a brother-in-law, Donald Semmler;
and nieces and nephews.

Visitation:  Friends may call from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Earl Crecelius officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.
