Elmer T. Schulte
Elmer T. Schulte, 79, of Swansea, IL, born December 13, 1927, in Swansea, IL, died Monday, September 10, 2007, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Schulte was an owner/operator of Schulte Standard Service Station for 21 years. Following retirement, he worked at CK&L of I Country Club and was a school crossing guard at High Mount School for ten years. Elmer was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Schulte was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A., nee Wahlig, Schulte, whom he married November 24, 1949, and who died December 6, 1988;
two sons in infancy, Thomas and Joseph Shulte;
his parents, Bernard and Rosa, nee Dust, Schulte;
two brothers, Frank and Bernard Jr. Schulte;
and two sisters, Jean Raab and Dorothy Kramkowski.
He is survived by two sons, Steven (Barb) Schulte of Newton, IL,
and Terry Schulte of Swansea, IL;
two daughters, Linda (Chris) McEvilly of Millstadt, IL,
and Joan (Craig) Mentzer of Swansea, IL;
fifteen grandchildren, Mark (Ashley) Schulte, Kevin (Krista) Schulte, Kent Schulte,
and Patrick Elmer Schulte, all of Newton, IL,
Stephanie (Eric) Root of Cedar Rapids, IA,
Cari (Chad) East of Kansas City, MO,
Christina (Noah) Vineyard of Belleville, IL,
Matthew Theodore (Gayle) Schulte of Belleville, IL,
Elizabeth Schulte of Belleville, IL,
Nicholas, Andrew, and Garret McEvilly of Millstadt, IL,
and Allyson, Ryan, and Jillian Mentzer of Swansea, IL;
four great-grandchildren, Jaiden Root, Logan East, Reagan Schulte, and Ethan Vineyard;
two sisters and a brother, Viola Schuff of Belleville, IL, Vera (Edward) Sutter of Millstadt, IL, and Joseph (Helen) Schulte of Belleville, IL.

Funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2007, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. Bernard Voss officiating.
Burial will be held at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
