Paul Ellington Adams, 87, of Freeburg, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at home with his wife, Betty Ruth, and family by his side.
Paul was born January 12, 1929, in Kennett, MO, and was the son of the late Robert “Bozy” and Nell, nee Banister, Adams. Paul met Betty Ruth Cooper in Kennett and married her on May 2, 1952. They spent over 64 years together raising nine children.
Paul graduated from Holcomb High School, Holcomb, MO, in 1948, served in the United States Army, and retired from Campbell 66 Express truck line after working as the service mechanic for 25 years. He never knew a stranger and was a friend to all. Paul was very active in his church and he enjoyed helping people. He faithfully served as a deacon at Bunkum Road Baptist Church, East St. Louis, IL, and Faith Baptist Church, Freeburg, IL. Dedicated to his faith, he preached and comforted the elderly at the Washington Park Nursing Home and Freeburg Nursing Home for many years. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and donating to the Lottery.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Adams.

Bruce (Mary Ann) Adams,
Brent (Jackie) Adams,
Scott (Donna) Adams,
and Jason (Stacy) Adams;
two daughters, Paula (Tom) Steiner,
and Amy (Wayne) Guetterman;
and a sister, Josephine Wilson.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at Faith Baptist Church, Freeburg, IL.
Funeral: A service celebrating Paul’s life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at Faith Baptist Church, Freeburg, IL, with Brother Paul Kurrelmeyer officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.
