Samuel Gruberman

Retired U.S. Air Force Sr. Master Sergeant Samuel Gruberman, 74, of Belleville, IL, born November 1, 1942, in New York City, NY, died Thursday, February 2, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Samuel Gruberman retired after serving 24 years in the U.S. Air Force. After his military career, he worked in a civil service position at Scott Air Force Base, retiring after 13 years. Samuel was a member of the American Legion Post 321 in New Baden, IL, and was also a member of the Enlisted Association. Samuel was a die-hard New York Yankees’ fan and an avid fan of all sports. He also enjoyed listening to his favorite Doo Wop music.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Claire, nee Papier, Gruberman.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Beverly Ann, nee McPherson, Gruberman, whom he married on November 29, 1963;
four sons, Greg Gruberman (Marlene Kettler) of Belleville, IL,
    Gary Gruberman (Beth Henry) of Mascoutah, IL,
    Jeff Gruberman of Belleville, IL,
    Jaye (Jennifer) Gruberman of Albequerque, NM;
12 grandchildren, Brandi, Gregory (Angel),
    Sara, Alex, Sami,
    Heather, Clay, Brad,
    Megan, Ashley (Mario), Zach,
    and Samara;
two great-grandchildren, Cashton and Claire;
a sister-in-law, Bonnie (Elwin) Ross;
and two nephews, Daniel and Douglas Ross.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org/donate), or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2017at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Burial will follow at the cemetery.
