Joan Mutchek, nee Vaughn, 85, of Belleville, IL, born November 3, 1932, in West Frankfort, IL, died Monday, February12, 2018, at St. Paul’s Home, Belleville, IL.

Joan worked as a communications specialist with the department of defense before her retirement.   She was a past member of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association) and AARP.  She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.  Joan loved to read, work crossword puzzles, crochet, and spend time with her beloved grandchildren.

She was preceded in death her husband of 38 years, Edward Ray Mutchek, whom she married on March 21, 1953, and who died on March 31, 1991; her parents, William R. and Pansy V., nee Reinheimer, Vaughn; her grandmother who raised her, Catherine; a brother, William Vaughn; and a sister, Iris Lange.

Surviving are two daughters, Sheree (Steve) Cannady of Caseyville, IL, and Dina (Scott) Jaskowiak of Belleville, IL;
and five grandchildren, Matthew Edward (Jamie) Cannady, Michael Vaughn Cannady, Megan Rae Jaskowiak, Mark Andrew (Natalie) Jaskowiak, and Melissa Catherine Jaskowiak.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Funeral:  As per Joan’s wishes, cremation and private burial services will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Local National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) volunteers provide help in reporting the death of any federal civilian retiree or a retiree’s spouse to proper authorities.
