Rita was an extraordinary woman. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg Women’s Club, and the Silver Creek Garden Club. Rita loved gardening, quilting, traveling, and spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard E. Etling, whom she married on June 22, 1954, and who died on January 22, 1998; a son Craig Etling; and her parents, Louis and Cordelia, nee Wolfersberger, Koehr.
Surviving are five sons and four daughters,
Millard (Michelle) Etling and their three children, Cody Etling, Savannah and Genevieve Weeks;
Lynn (Dan) Margiotta and their three children, Alana (Tom) Lerch, Anthony and Matt Margiotta;
Curt (Heidi) Etling and their four children, Sophia, Serena, Claudia and Craig Etling;
Craig Etling (deceased) and his two children, Shannon and Drew Etling;
Keith (Karen) Etling and their three children, Caitlin (Luke) Poston, Lauren (Nick) Crossley and Paige Etling;
Jean (Kevin) Schoenborn and their three children, Jenna (Jason) Chierek, Sara (Brian) Fietsam and Jason (Alyssa) Schoenborn;
Jon Etling;
Kay (John) Polites and their child, Nicole Polites;
Julia (Greg) Veneziale and their two children, Greg and Jordan Veneziale;
Neil (Saskia) Etling and their two children, Carsten and Laura Etling;
eight great-grandchildren, Maya and Violet Lerch, Marina Margiotta, Oscar and Vivian Chierek, Ellie and Owen Fietsam, and Lydia Poston;
and two brothers, Fr. Louis Koehr and Vincent (Judy) Koehr.

Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday November 14, 2017, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL, with Fr. Mark Reyling officiating.
Burial will be in Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
