Robert Gregory Bittner, 84, of Belleville, IL, born January 21, 1931, in Kansas City, MO, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mr. Bittner retired from A.G. Edwards.  He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, a recipient of the Purple Heart, and a member of American Legion Belleville Post 58.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Roberta A., nee Risley, Bittner, whom he married on January 14, 1950, and who died on August 17, 2009; his parents, Jerome and Alice, nee Dolson, Bittner; three brothers, Eugene, Jerome Jr., and Joseph Bittner; and two sisters, Veronica Collins and Mary Lou Bittner.

Surviving are three sons and a daughter, Michael (Cathy) Bittner of Sullivan, MO,
Linda (Bill) Whitaker of Belleville, IL,
Jerome (Cheryl) Bittner of Memphis, TN,
and Richard ((Liz) Bittner of O’Fallon, IL;
seven grandchildren, Ryan (LaDawn) Bittner of Bourbon, MO,
Tammy (Mike) Branson, Jason (Amy) Whitaker, and Bryan (Robyn) Whitaker,
all of Belleville, IL,
Nicole (Nathan) Parchman of O’Fallon, IL,
Nathaniel Bittner (fiancee, Sarah Blackerby) of Branson, MO,
and Christopher (Julie) Fischer of Hazelwood, MO;
11 great-grandchildren, Jaimee, Jarrett, Jaycee,
Mackenzie, Austin, Hunter, Brooklyn, Kayleigh,
Aidan, Carlee, and Madyson;
and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Family Hospice or to St. Louis Children’s Hospital Kids Caring for Cancer Endowment Fund.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at the funeral home, with Rev. Doug Munton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Vic and I were so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I know he was an incredible man because of the endless love and care you gave him. He raised a wonderful daughter and was incredibly blessed to have you. We never have as much time as we would like, but the time you gave him, I’m certain he cherished greatly.
Take comfort in knowing you did everything and more for him as only a loving daughter would…
