Valeria was a devoted homemaker who was very involved in the lives of all of her family. She and her husband were founding members of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church in Belleville, IL, where she was active in the Queenship of Mary Sodality and volunteered at both the church and the school.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. “Ducks” Schoendienst, whom she married on November 9, 1943, in Damiansville, IL, and who died on June 16, 2007; her parents, Fred and Sophie, nee Rensing, Wegmann; a brother, Herman Wegmann; and two sisters, Margaret Imming and Sophie Kreitner.
Surviving are a son, Andrew (Lorelei) Schoendienst of Juno Beach, FL;
two daughters, Janet (David) Billhartz of Fairview Heights IL,
and Susan (Michael) Schomber of Maryville, IL;
six grandchildren, Jill Billhartz, Jeanne (Gordon) Mitchell,
Christy (Eric) Fortin, Christopher (Robin) Schomber,
Anne (Lucas) Runge, and Andrew Schoendienst Jr.;
nine great-grandchildren, Cameron Mitchell, Abigail Mitchell,
Sophia Billhartz, Gabriella Billhartz,
Mia Schomber, Chase Schomber, Melanie Runge,
Teddy Fortin, and Lilly Fortin;
a sister in law, Lavita Schoendienst of St. Louis, MO;
two brothers-in-law, Albert “Red” Schoendienst
and Joseph (Irene) Schoendienst, both of St. Louis, MO;
and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL with Msgr. William McGee officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
