Joyce retired from Professional Title Insurance & Escrow Corp., Belleville, IL, in 2003. Mrs. Laux was very active in the community, and served on several committees, including Belleville Development and Re-Development Commission, Belleville Main Street, and Belleville Economic Progress. Joyce was a member of the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Missouri Botanical Garden, and Belleville Optimist Club. She was a trustee for Belleville Township, advisory board member for Commerce Bank, past-president of Beta Sigma Phi, recipient of the Phenomenal Woman of Metropolitan St. Louis Award for Racial Harmony, and recipient of the Community Service Award from the Illinois State Grange.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Edward F. Laux; her parents, Lawrence and Genevieve, nee Helfrich, Weber; and a grandson, Leo Patrick Shevlin.
Surviving are her three children, Lana Laux (Steven) Kunz, Laura Laux (Tim) Derstine, and Edward (Debbie) Laux;
five grandchildren, Bailey and Riley Laux, Claire (Aaron) Turner, Emma Kunz, and Olivia Shevlin;
four step-grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Ella, and Landon Derstine;
a brother, David (Mary) Weber;
a niece, Kathy (Robbie) Myers;
and two great-nieces, Avery and Haley Myers.

Joyce would like to thank her family members for taking such good care of her, Dr. Visconti and his nursing staff, her daughter-in-law, Debbie Laux, her brother and sister-in-law, and her many friends, including Wilma Jackson, Margie Gestes, Judge Annette Eckert, Bill Enyart, Jane and Dan Schloesser, Sharon Weck, and Doug and Sharon Dahm.
Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
