Mrs. Stehl was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker. She was a lifelong member and active volunteer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL. Mary spent countless hours volunteering for many church activities, including preparing food for the quilting club and funeral luncheons. Mary helped run Stehl’s Trenching Service alongside her husband, Clarence. She was a hard worker who never complained. She always saw the best in everyone and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Clarence E. Stehl, whom she married January 9, 1958, and who died November 11, 2018; her parents, Adolph and Otilia, nee Becker, Helfrich; four brothers, Norman (Mary), Walter, Harry, and Leon Helfrich; and two sisters, Jo Ann Helfrich and Rose Marie Guetterman.
Surviving are her seven children, Jeffrey (Julie) Stehl, Karen (Barry) Schuhardt, Jane (Thomas) Sebeck, Susie (Danny) Reppell, Mark (Joyce) Stehl, Thomas Stehl, and Michelle (Kevin) Deckard;
14 grandchildren, Andy (Kate) Stehl, Nicki (Mike) Schilling, Timothy (Nikki) Stehl, Lindsey (Danny) Schrader, Corey Schuhardt, Amy (Josh) Pryor, Alyssa (Andy) Mueller, Lauren (William) Donald, Christen (Drew) Bendick, Sara Preston, Lucas Preston, Owen Deckard, and Jillian and Jared Smith;
17 great-grandchildren;
a brother-in-law, James Guetterman;
a sister-in-law, Carolyn Helfrich;
and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL, with Fr. Stan Konieczny officiating. Masks are required.
Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Smithton, IL.
