Sharon was the past owner and operator of Clay Candle Company in Belleville and was the gift shop manager at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for more than 21 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL and a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Sharon loved to paint and enjoyed a good manhattan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Patrick W. Gaul, whom she married on May 14, 1955, and who died on November 19, 2015; her parents, Yorker and Estelle, nee Gass, Wade; and a brother, Jerry Wade.
Surviving are her children, Patrick (Cindy) Gaul of Swansea, IL, Angie (Chris) Wilkins of Belleville, IL, and Erin Gaul of Belleville, IL;
three grandchildren, Ashley (Jon) Hofman, Madeline Gaul (fiancé, Danny Snyder), and Patrick Gaul;
two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Estella Hofman;
two brothers, Yorker (Donna) Wade of Decatur, IL, and Dan (Jan) Wade of San Diego, CA;
and a sister, Wendy Wade of San Rafael, CA.
