Since I grew up in the white house on the corner (212 N. State) in Freeburg, IL, the Slacks were the Skaers' neighbor. You could not have asked for better neighbors -- and this means the entire Slack family. Sad to see Al leave this Earth, as he was a very friendly, kind and helpful person/former neighbor. He was an excellent role model for a kid next door. May he rest in peace. May Dorothy view this as her husband getting his "just rewards" -- a seat next to God in heaven. --- Mark Skaer
