Alda & Lawrence McIntyre

Print Obituary
Alda Mafalda, nee Fiore, McIntyre, 94, went home to Jesus on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the age of 94.

Lawrence “Larry” J. McIntyre passed away on December 31, 2020.

Alda had several passions in life, but two stood out more than others. She loved teaching and retired after 37 years as a business teacher at Belleville Township High School West. Since retirement, many students have kept in contact with her and Alda genuinely cared about them.

Her foremost passion and center of her life was her husband, Lawrence McIntyre. They were married for 49 years. They shared many adventures and loved the life they had built together. “True love stories never have endings”, as Alda and Larry knew.

Survivors include two cousins, Norman (Laura) Fiore, and Caralmae (Robert) Knickmeyer.

Family and friends will miss Alda dearly, but she would want all to look forward and treasure the past.

Alda was preceded in death by her parents, Pierino “Pete” and Mary, nee Vescovi, Fiore.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, James Franklin McIntyre, who died in action during World War II; his mother, Ruby M. McIntyre-Shaw; and his stepfather, Kenneth B. “Shorty” Shaw.

Memorials may be made to the Missouri Botanical Gardens or to the St. Louis Zoo. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth York officiating.

Burial of cremains will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Christopher, IL.

Alda and Larry always shared Christmas with our family. Larry always brought his slaw! They would come during the fest season of deer hunting and have bagna caulda with us. We will miss their company. Prayers to the cousins. I’m sure Larry, Alda, and Virginia Genisio Stoffel are talking about jewelry and planning a trip to the orchards!

Alda and Larry were good neighbors and friends to my parents, Tony and Therese Riassetto. They loved to talk about their shared interest in Italy, especially Piemonte. May Alda rest peacefully now that she is with Larry again. Our sympathies to the family.

Larry and Alda were both wonderful people! I am so glad that I got to experience them in my life. Getting to visit with them was truly an experience! They were both so much fun! I will never forget Larry's "flat bread" story or Alda's duct tape experience. I miss them both!

Alda was quite the lady. Her sense of style was impeccable. She always arrived to dinners dressed to the nines. She was a beautiful woman all the way to her diamond studded cane. Miss her RIP
