Chris, Gary and Conner: Our hearts are heavy with grief over the tragic loss of your son and brother Alex. We truly understand the immeasurable grief of having your child die before you. It's not right; life's just not supposed to work that way. Your grief will be part of who you are from here on out. But so too will be the happy memories of all the joy Alex brought into your life, and all the love your shared together. It won't just be the "big things,: though there are certainly those -- Alex accomplished so much. It will also be those little moments that make a life and make a family. My niece Jodi found a wonderful song that we had sung at my son Oliver's memorial service. It's called "With Hope," by Steven Curtis Chapman. Try to find the time to listen to it. It captures perfectly what I felt and you're probably feeling -- the grief, the anguish, and even the questioning of how a loving God could let this happen. But, as the title suggests, it delivers a message of hope. I'll close with what a friend of my parents told my dad when my mon died too young. He told me dad "I know it's really hard to accept right now, but trust that some of the happiest moments of your life lie still ahead of you." With love, Wes & Laura
