Mr. Abegg was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florine A., nee Lauber, Abegg, who died on May 18, 2002; his parents, Joseph and Alvina, nee Hoffmann, Abegg; and two brothers, Gordon Abegg and Paul Abegg.
Surviving are there sons, Steven (Mary Ann) Abegg,
Joseph Abegg,
and Edward (Marcia) Abegg;
10 grandchildren, Joshua, Chelsea, Courtney,
Morgan, Michael, Joseph,
Cole, Kennedy, Sullivan, and Maguire;
and three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Zane, and Christina.
Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
