Anne Elizabeth Bruno, nee Seka, 95, of Belleville, IL, born March 8, 1921, in Granite City, IL, died Friday, June 10, 2016, at St. Paul’s Home, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Bruno retired as a seamstress from Martha Manning Dress Factory in Collinsville, IL.  She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.  Anne enjoyed playing canasta and belonged to a canasta club.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Peter Leo Bruno, whom she married on April 12, 1947, at St. Joseph Church, Granite City, IL, and who died on March 18, 2015; her parents, Charles and Katherine, nee Harizal, Seka; three sisters, Elizabeth Seka, in infancy, Leona Svezia, and Catherine Cremer; and three brothers, Steve, Carl, and William Seka.

Surviving are her daughter, Carla (Thomas) Butler of Belleville, IL;
her son, John (Lisa) Bruno of Belleville, IL;
four grandchildren, Amy (Ty) Sterthman, Erin (Steve) Connolly,
Adam Bruno, and Jeremy Bruno;
two step-grandchildren, John Vahlkamp and Amanda Vahlkamp;
four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, and Keara Connolly,
and Kyle Klees;
and nieces and nephews.
She was our dear Mom, Mammer/Grandma, and Mammer Great.

The Bruno family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at St. Paul’s, especially Jennifer, Loretta, Viola, Darla, Marlene, and Cheryl, for their care of Anne.

Memorials may be made in the form of Masses, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105, or to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 305 S. Illinois St., Belleville, IL  62220.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth York officiating.  Private burial of cremains will be at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL, at a later date.

Our sympathies on the loss of your Mom. Often spent time with the ladies on canasta day or evening. What a wonderful group of people! They were such a great example for all of us ‘kids’. They have another player at the table for poker and canasta!
