Retired USAF Master Sergeant Arlie Roland Proctor, 77, of Freeburg, IL, born October 22, 1938, in Hollister, MO, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at St. Paul’s Senior Community, Belleville, IL.

MSgt. Proctor retired as a computer systems superintendent from the U.S. Air Force after serving his country for 20 years.  He was the post commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5742 in Cotter, AR, and served one year as district commander for District 2 in the state of Arkansas.  He was also a member of VFW Freeburg Post 7074, where he had served as post commander and chaplain, and a member and past chaplain of American Legion Freeburg Post 550.

Arlie was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jannalee, nee James, Proctor, whom he married on March 6, 1956, and who died on June 1, 2008; his parents, Roland and Ruby, nee Hoover, Proctor; and a brother, Bobby Lee Proctor, in infancy.

Surviving are a daughter and two sons, LaWanna A. (Randall) Rogers of Dixon, MO,
Steven A. (Anne) Proctor of Freeburg, IL,
and Kenneth A. (Patricia) Proctor of New Athens, IL;
four grandchildren, Chrystal (Kerry) Lawson, Audrey Proctor,
Elizabeth Proctor, and Olivia Proctor;
and two great-grandchildren, Bryce Clontz and Kathryn Lawson.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, May 2, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Robert F. Koch officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Sorry to hear about Arlie’s passing. I remember working for MoPac RR in HOLLISTER and selling Arlie a (military discounted) train ticket to the military base when he joined. (before he and Janalee were married.)
