Arthur Nirscher, 77, of Belleville, IL, born July 19, 1943, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Art was a very devoted and loving husband to Janice for 47 years.  He loved Jesus with all his heart.  The angels have ushered him into the arms of a loving savior.  In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  The second commandment is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Art was a super bass fiddle man.  He and Janice played old time gospel and bluegrass music and made many lifelong friends along their music journey.  Art enjoyed watching football, especially the Chicago Bears.  He was also an avid model train collector.  Art graduated, with honors, from Lewis and Clark Community College with a degree in radio broadcasting.  Art was a member of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL.

Arthur worked for at E-Lite, Tool and MFG. Co for 21 years.  He retired as a legal courier from Gundlach, Lee, Eggmann, Boyle and Roessler.  In the late 80’s and early 90’s, Art was the voice of Bluegrass music at radio station WLCA FM in Godrey, IL and radio station KXEN AM in Granite City, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Nirscher; and his mother, Zenaida, nee Bond, Nirscher.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Janice Fay, nee Meinders, Nirscher, whom he married on September 8, 1973; a sister-in-law, Donna Griggs; a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert L. (Pam) Meinders; two nieces, Kimberly Sharp, Rebecca Griggs; a nephew, Attorney Blake (Carly) Meinders; an aunt, Phyllis of Phoenix, AZ; a cousin, Mary Ann Dorantes of Chicago, IL; and two great nieces, Brianna Sharp and Megan Sharp.

Art will always have a special place in all our hearts.

Janice, Donna & Family, I'm so sorry to hear of Art's passing. I remember him from Westview "back in the day", as a very "peaceful", quiet kind of guy. May you find strength in Christ during this difficult time.
