Auggie was our Superman.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Linus Wachtel; and his maternal grandmother, Carol Hamm.
He is survived by his parents, William and Beth, nee Hamm, Wachtel of Smithton, IL; a brother, Austin Skoklo of Smithton, IL; a sister, Madison Wachtel (Tyler Rauckman, friend) of Smithton, IL; his grandparents, Dorothy Wachtel of Smithton, IL, and John W. Hamm III of Madison, IL; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Auggie’s caregivers, Carrie Schlesinger and Monyca Moore; his teacher, Patty Cerulli; his physical therapist, Barb Schlect; Dr. Kristin Stahl and her staff at Heartland Pediatrics; and the many nurses and doctors at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Visitation: Friends may visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL with Chaplain Lew Kimmel officiating.
The family requests that superhero or casual attire be worn to all services.
Burial will be at a later date.
