
Barbara was a dedicated homemaker and loved taking care of her family. Barbara was a devoted member of St. Teresa’s Parish, past choir member for 17 years, a member of the St. Teresa Perpetual Help Society, and a member and a past president of the Legion of Mary at the Church. Barbara was also a member of The Women of the Moose.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Linus Poettker, whom she married on November 24, 1960, and who died on July 4, 2015; her son, Paul Poettker; her parents, Theodore H. and Irene A., nee Spinnenweber, Metze; and her two brothers, Kenneth (Carolyn) Metze, and Jerome “Jerry” Metze.

John (Cheryl) Poettker of Wichita, KS,
Daniel (Tina) Poettker of Waterloo, IL,
Christopher (Angie) Poettker of Millstadt, IL,
and Leo (Christina) Poettker of Belleville, IL;
12 grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren;
and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. A recitation of the rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m., visitation also from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2023, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2023, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
