Bettye Doughty

Print Obituary
Bettye M. Doughty, nee Raber, 95, of Shiloh, IL, born May 10, 1927, in Browns, IL, died Thursday, March 2, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Bettye was one of a kind. Eternal blue-eyed cheerleader, charisma like few. Daughter of Indiana Sharecroppers. Bettye always bought one of each color and left the best part out of the recipe so hers would taste just a little bit better. She was one of the smartest, hippest, and most elegant women around, who also cussed like a sailor. Bettye was timeless.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Robert E. “Bob” Doughty, whom she married on May 28, 1945, and who died on June 10, 2017; a son, Mark Doughty; a grand-in-law, Mike McPadden; and her parents, Emil and Tillie, nee Hirschelman, Raber.

She is survived by three sons, Neal (Darya) Doughty, Mike Doughty, and Randy (Cindy) Doughty; five grands, Rachel, Christopher, Katie (Tom), Dylan (Loren), and Tyler (Kelsie), and five greats, Graham, Nora, Olive, Luca, and Finley.
