My sincere sympathy to Steve’s daughters and family. Steve and I became friends at Southern University and years later spent happy years together in California. A contribution in his honor will be made to the church we attended in Tiburon California, Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was loved and will be missed.

I saw Steve at Kroger. He was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops. He told me he was retired but I asked him to come work for me at the Franklin County State's Atty Ofc, and he did. The next week Steve was unleashed on the unsuspecting criminals of our good county. It was Glorious! Working with Steve, Wayne, and Evan was the high point of my career. Such a good time, so many laughs. Steve was a great lawyer and better friend. I am going to miss him. RIP My Friend

So sorry to see my colleague had passed away. I knew Steve when he was State's Attorney in Wayne County but became better acquainted when he came to work as an Assistant in Franklin County. Steve was a dedicated professional whose contribution of knowledge, humor, sarcasm, comraderie and hard work made a difficult job just a little bit more tolerable. Rest in peace dear friend

My sincere condolences to Steve's family. We worked together at the Attorney General's office. He was a terrific mentor to me. In 2018, we worked a case together in Belleville when I got the call that my twins were about to be born. He jumped in the car and said "say no more" and he drove me back to Springfield (very quickly) in time for their birth. I'll always be grateful to him and I'll always remember his words of wisdom.

I wish to express my condolences to Steve's family. I was sadden when I heard that he had passed. I worked with Steve for 9 years at The Illinois Attorney Generals office. He headed up the Springfield office for the Medicaid Fraud Bureau. Steve was an accomplished attorney who achieved great results for the Attorney General. He was also a friend. I enjoyed talking to Steve about the law and about life. I looked forward to our dinners together when I was in Springfield. Rick Crystal

Fond Memories of my Uncle Steve's Booming Laugh, and Friendly Smile. Fun trips to get real Mexican food at Bea's, and joking with the waiter"El Mundo", who always remembered him and gave him a hug., He taught me how to kick a football, and how to fetch a beer during a big game. He offered to help put me through Art school, and was a constant Pillar of support in my life. He was as loved as any Uncle ever was, and will be terribly missed. I hope he has a comfy place on all of our shoulders going forward. RIP Unca Steve.
