Print Obituary
Carol Sue Eichholz, nee Hensley, 75, of Shiloh, IL, born August 31, 1942, in East St. Louis, IL, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at her residence.

Carol, along with her husband Jim, owned and operated O’Fallon Electric Company for over 30 years.  She was a 1960 graduate of Belleville Township High School.  She enjoyed traveling and tennis, shopping with friends, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.  Carol had a passion for cooking, decorating and gardening. Her home was included in the 2015 Gardens in Bloom Tour.  Nothing was more important to Carol than her family, especially her grandsons. Nothing got in the way of her Tuesday’s with her grandsons as they were growing up. They baked cookies, went shopping and had lunch together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Sr. and Mildred, nee Poston, Hensley; her father-in-law, James Eichholz; her mother-in-law, Lillian, nee Eisenhauer, Eichholz; a sister, Virginia (Cecil) Barfield; and a brother-in-law, Herb Glenn.

Surviving are the love of her life of 55 years, James E. Eichholz, whom she married on June 9, 1962;
three children, Lisa (Mike) Brown, Mark (Renae) Eichholz, and Matthew (Tracy) Eichholz, all of O’Fallon, IL;
three grandsons, Brett, Christopher, and Alex Eichholz;
two brothers, Virgil Sr. (Judy) Hensley, and James Hensley;
a sister-in-law, Jane Glenn;
and nieces and nephews.

Dear Lisa and family. Your mother was such a great lady, I remember her from your dancing years. You will miss her but she is surely in heaven and doing fine. So sorry, Love Becky

Carol was simply a gem. I'll always remember her beautiful smile and the early years that I first new her. She would come in the bank to transact business and often had in tow Brett and later also Chris. Oh, how she cherished her time with her grandsons. I especially loved it when they would bring me some of the cookies they had baked. And, every now and then, Carol would show me a new piece of jewelry Jim had bought for her...or she'd bought for herself. It was clear that Carol felt blessed in her life and loved each and every family member dearly. My heart goes out to you all for your loss. The more memories we have of our loved ones, the harder it is to say good-bye to their physical presence. It is true though, that those memories sustain us in the days and years ahead. She'll remind you every day in some way that she is still with you in spirit. Hugs and condolences to you all!

What a wonderful & warm person was Carol! When I heard of her passing, I had to take a long walk, though it was midnight. While walking, I found myself humming the Carpenter's song "We've Only Just Begun". Carol and Jim had gifted me that album, when I was just a boy, 45 years ago. Now Carol has "just begun" a new journey, hopefully a happy and peaceful one. We miss her... My deep condolences to Jim, Lisa, Mark, Matt and the rest of the family... Kevin
