Carol E. Miller, nee Pieper, 74, of Belleville, IL, born May 21, 1948, in Freeport, IL, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Carol graduated with her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois. She held various administrative positions in the medical field throughout her career. Carol was very kind, always lending a helpful hand. She volunteered at many places, including the Fox Theater, and enjoyed musicals. She loved all kinds of animals and always wanted to be a veterinarian. Carol’s favorite past time was spending time with her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Sarah Jane, nee Pease, Pieper; and her sister, Karen Robertson.

She is survived by her loving son, Loren Miller;
three grandchildren, Caylee, Cameron, and Christian;
two sisters, Debbie (Larry) Robertson and Barbara (Jack) Weisensee;
four nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Ryan) Mokos, Douglas and Christine Weisensee, and Laura (Luis) Alcantara;
and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in c/o Loren Miller, to help with funeral expenses. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 10 to noon Friday, April 28, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, April 28, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

To carol. We were great friends for decades. You showed me the ropes at st. E’s. Then I pulled you to SLU. And then hired you at St. Anthony’s. Knowing your attention to detail would benefit the Medical Staff Office. As it did. Love you forever. Miss you already.

My friend since 1966 as roommates at U of I. Her intelligence and commitment to her family and God were unmatched. We'll all miss her.

We ALL LOVED Carol so much! Each of us at the vet clinic miss her so. I'll never forget her laughter and how much fun she was. Until we meet again friend.
