Carol Sue Perez, nee Williams, 71, of Belleville, IL, born September 17, 1944, in East St. Louis, IL, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.

Mrs. Perez was raised in Caseyville, IL, graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1962, and later attended the University of Illinois, Champaign, IL.   During her working career, Carol worked as a caseworker for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for 15 years, for the Freeburg Grade School District 70 as a teacher’s aide for 18 years, for the U.S. Bureau of the Census for five years, and as a realtor in Texas for three years.  Carol was known as a problem solver with an eclectic list of interests and abilities, oftentimes self-taught.

Carol was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She also served on the Selective Service Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Pedro “Pete” Perez, whom she married on January 2, 1982, in Caseyville, IL, and who died on August 25, 2015; her parents, Robert and Nida Pearl, nee Fowler, Williams; a sister, Mereita Dee Williams; and a brother, Renault  “Tiny” (Lynn) Williams; grandparents; aunts; and uncles.

Surviving are her daughter, Alyx McKenzie Perez of Freeburg, IL;
her dear friend, Coco Price of Freeburg, IL;
and her canine companion, Summer.

Memorials may be made to Family Hospice, to the Belleville Area Humane Society or the American Legion Operation Comfort Warriors for Illinois Veterans. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2015, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015, at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2015, at the funeral home, with Rev. Anthony Scott officiating.  Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.

was such a talented woman. As a child i enjoyed spending weekends with her-she was my aunt, my friend and she shared many of her talents with me. Please know that you are thought of often and in our prayers always.
