Carolyn S. Ackroyd, nee Brosch, 77, of Swansea, IL, born February 8, 1941, in Belleville, IL, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Carolyn retired from Scott Air Force Base as a communications management specialist.  She was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church.  She enjoyed playing video keno, loved to cook, go out to eat with family and friends, and was an avid reader.  She was a wonderful, generous and loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Wallace D. Ackroyd, whom she married April 24, 1986, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and who died on March 7, 2008; her mother, Mildred L., nee Mayeski, Brosch; her father, Edward Brosch; a brother, Raymond Brosch; maternal grandparents, John and Katie Mayeski; paternal grandparents, Barbara and Albert Brosch; and an uncle, Joe Mayeski.

She is survived by a son, John McGuire of Swansea, IL;
a granddaughter, Katie (Greg) Pingsterhaus of Aviston, IL;
and dear friends, Barbara, Terry and Karol, Jane, and Laverne.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:40 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
