Catherine was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother, who always put family first. Later in life, she worked in medical records. She was a volunteer for various organizations, including the Ladies of St. Henry’s, Meals-on-Wheels, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John L. Balint, who died March 19, 1988; two grandsons, Nathaniel Lucarelli and Cameron Joseph Schrage; her parents, Frank and Maria, nee Schank, Thill; three brothers, John (Louise) Thill, Michael (Catherine) Thill, and William (Rose) Thill; three sisters, Teresa (Lawrence) Worland, Marion Thill, and Betty (Frank) Larrabee; two sisters-in-law, Veronica Allen and Emma Balint; and a brother-in law, George (Mary Ann) Balint.
Surviving are her five children, Mary Anne (Ron) Lucarelli of Fairview Heights, IL,
Nancy Balint of Belleville, IL,
Bill (Susan) Balint of Belleville, IL,
Therese (Ron) Leasburg of Manteo, NC,
and Celia Mullikin of Creve Coeur, MO;
ten grandchildren, Dr. Mark (Heidi) Lucarelli, Dr. Mike (Karen) Lucarelli,
Lisa (Marcel) Schrage, Shawn, David, and John Balint,
Damon Veremakis, and Jason, Jenny, and Lauren Mullikin;
eight great-grandchildren, Katie, Rebecca, and Benjamin Lucarelli, Missy Baker,
Evan, Lindsey, and Justin Schrage, and Leah Grace Balint;
and many nieces and nephews.
Thank you to those who faithfully cared for Catherine, ministered and visited her while she was in Liberty Village.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, February 29, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth York officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
