Christine Marie Kroupa, nee Culella, 92, of Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 27, 2024.

She was an executive secretary at Mercantile Trust Company in St. Louis, MO, before she met and fell in love with Joseph Kroupa, whom she married on February 4, 1956, at Our Lady Help of Christians, St. Louis, MO. She eagerly started the next chapter in her life, building a home and raising her family.  She was a devoted wife and mother who put family above everything.

Christine was a giving soul with a generous heart who made friends easily and brightened every life she touched. She was active in the Queen of Peace Sodality, delivered Meals on Wheels, and provided outreach support to local nursing homes.  Her faith was an important part of her life and she attended mass and prayed the rosary daily.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Josephine Culella; husband, Joseph Kroupa; brother, Joseph Culella; and two sisters, Sarah Sellmeyer and Margie Gettemeier.

Surviving are her two children, Marianne (Jim) Moore and Brian Kroupa (Denny Henson); three grandchildren, Kristen Hauser, Dorian Hauser (Hannah), and Cameron Frauenfelder; and a great-granddaughter, Allison Bonde.  Her extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins always brought her great joy.

The family would like to thank all her wonderful caregivers at Dammert Care Center for their dedicated support until her peaceful passing.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
