Print Obituary
Clark J. “Bud” Gabel, 84, of Belleville, IL, born August 9, 1932, in Belleville, IL, went home to God on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Bud was very proud to be a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War, and honorably discharged. He was a member of both the Belleville Masonic Lodge and the Belleville Ainad Shriners Club. Bud worked for Laborers Local 459 before his retirement. He loved to go fishing even in Alaska, was an avid sports fan (GO CARDS), and never passed up a poker game.  Bud loved people and treated everyone like family.  When the Lord called him home, Bud took a piece of our hearts with him. He will be missed immensely by all.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Shirley M. Gabel, whom he married on November 4, 1950, and who died on February 1, 2008; his parents, George and Johanna, nee Kelley, Gabel; a half-sister, Karen Campbell; a step-brother, Russell Lenz; and a very special friend, Ken Fischer.

Surviving are his fiancée, Carol Jansen Moffitt;
a half-brother, Kenneth Bauer;
a step-sister, Mildred Becherer;
and numerous cousins.

Special thanks and love to “My little baby girl” Kelley Farmer; honorary adopted grandson, Rob Haley; and loving special pet friend, Buddy.
