Cornelia Pauline Welsch, nee Walter, 97, of Belleville, IL, born February 19, 1919, in Belleville, IL, died Thursday, August 4, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Welsch was a homemaker who enjoyed being with family and friends. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, and also of the Belleville Senior Citizens Club.  Cornie enjoyed volunteering at “The Lot”, the senior citizen’s resale shop, and loved meeting people and selling bargain merchandise at the shop.  She belonged to the Cathedral Grade School and Cathedral High School Mother’s Club, as well as the Althoff High School Mother’s Club.  Cornie was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Cathedral and a member of the Perpetual Help Sodality at the church.  She loved her St. Louis Cardinals and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Anthony W. Welsch; one son, Mark Welsch; her parents, Michael L. and Ida C., nee Rensing, Walter; her twin sister, Corine Schleicher; two sisters, Adelaide Devine and Wilma Martini; and one brother, Michael Walter.

Surviving are one son, Tony (Connie) Welsch of Freeburg, IL;
one daughter-in-law, Lorrie Welsch of Denver, CO;
three grandchildren, Dawn (Chad) Williams of Jefferson City, TN,
Torrey (Katie) Welsch of Belleville, IL,
and Josh (Misa) Wilemon of Colorado;
three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kaleb Williams,
and Wesley Welsch,
and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in the form of Memorial Masses, or to HSHS Hospice.   Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2016, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2016, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL with Msgr. John Myler officiating. Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
