Daniel J. Engel, 61, of Belleville, IL, born December 18, 1955, in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mr. Engel went home to be with the Lord.  He was a charter member of Victory Family Church for 25 years.  He loved to tell people about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He was a loving and caring husband.  Daniel was always a friendly and happy person who helped so many people throughout his life. He loved photography, traveling, motorcycles, and scooters.

Daniel was a dedicated carpenter for Fred J. Engel Company for many, many years.  Later, he was self-employed, providing maintenance and repair for many local businesses and homeowners. He served honorably in the United States Army in the United States and Germany.

He was preceded by his mother, Concelia “Connie” A., nee Daubach, Engel; and a sister, Nancy Engel.

Surviving are his loving wife of nine years, Carla, nee Hogue, Engel, whom he married on August 25, 2007;
one step-son, Gerald Ryan Hayden;
his father, Frederick J. Engel of Belleville, IL;
five sisters and two brothers, Diana Engel,
Kathleen (Terry) Lowry,
Eric F. Engel,
Nelson K. (Sue) Engel,
Carla J. Engel,
Barbara Sue (Rick) Guyer,
and Lisa M. Engel;
and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Family Church.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at Victory Family Church, 555 South Belt West, Belleville, IL, 62220.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at Victory Family Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. David Harbison officiating.
