Mr. Strumberg had retired from the Chrysler Corporation, Fenton, MO. Danny had a passion for gardening and was an avid St. Louis Blues fan. He loved attending stock car races with his son, Dan. Danny enjoyed helping others and was always the first person to volunteer a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward W. and Ruby M., nee Schmidt, Strumberg; a brother, Edward Strumberg; and a sister, Cindy (Harry) McCord.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Rita, nee Poelker, Strumberg, whom he married
on July 19, 1979, in Belleville, IL;
a son, Daniel (Nicole) Strumberg of Belleville, IL;
a sister, Judy (Ralph) Behrman of Swansea, IL;
a brother-in-law, Thom Poelker of Belleville, IL;
a sister-in-law, Janet (Dennis) McLaurin of Casa Grande, AZ;
nieces and nephews;
and his special friends, Red and Viola Ernst, and Mandi Martin.
The Strumberg family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, especially to Kelly O., Johnie, Tina, Chaplain Dan, and all of the wonderful and caring volunteers. A heartfelt thank you is also extended to Danny’s caregivers, Butch, Mary, and Lavern.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Danny and I grew up about a block away. I have a lot of great memories of our childhood. He was a great athlete and we played a lot of basketball and whiffle ball together. But most of all Dan was a great guy and loyal friend. He’ll be missed for sure.
