Danny L. Abel, 74, of Bland, MO, formerly of Belleville, IL, born October 22, 1941, in Belle, MO, died Sunday, February 14, 2016, at his residence.

Danny was a civil engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 35 years before his retirement.  He was a member of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers.  Danny enjoyed spending his retirement years with his wife Janet in the hills of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Georgia, nee Terrill, Abel; and a brother, Ronald K. Abel.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Janet K., nee LePere, Abel, whom he married on May 1, 1965;
three sons, Jeffrey L. (Laura) Abel of Smithton, IL,
Eric D. (Tricia) Abel of Piedmont, OK,
and Douglas C. (Tracey) Abel of Derby, KS;
two grandchildren, Taylor and Benjamin Abel;
his twin brother, Donny C. (Barbara) Abel of Port Neches, TX;
two sisters, Nancy J. Abel of Owensville, MO,
and Judy E. (Harold) Hodges of Owensville, MO;
and nieces and nephews.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 18, at the funeral home with Rev. Shane Bishop officiating.  Burial will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
