Mrs. Hamby was a homemaker. She had previously worked at Belleville Area College, as a secretary at a local police department, and at Paris Cleaners. She enjoyed gardening, and especially loved her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leon F. Hamby, whom she married on August 14, 1953, and who died on December 2, 2010; her father, Walter Pauly; her mother, Helen (Sylvester) Utz; and a sister, Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Wegescheide.
Surviving are her children, Joan Helene Becherer of Waterloo, IL, Brenda Rae (Willis) Lynn, of Belleville, IL, and Cynthia Jane (Stephen) Longhibler of Caseyville, IL;
six grandchildren, Tracy Jo, Kristine, Carrie, Jimmy, April, and Michael;
16 great-grandchildren;
five great-great-grandchildren;
a sister, Carol Crosby of Belleville, IL;
a brother, Walter G. Pauly of Ocala, FL;
a dog, Chipper;
and a cat, Barney.

Private burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
