David L. Harris, 78, of Freeburg, IL, born April 17, 1939, in Freeburg, IL, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, in Freeburg, IL.

David was a journeyman bricklayer for 15 years, and a retired millwright after 30 years of service at Pfizer/Elementis.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles B. Harris; a brother in infancy, William; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Edwina Krauss; and paternal grandparents, James and Emma Harris.

Surviving are his wife, Verlene, nee Luebbers, Harris, of Freeburg, IL;
a daughter and son-in-law, Maria Harris and Scott Krupa of Oregon;
his mother, Lucille M., nee Krauss, Harris of Freeburg, IL;
two brothers, Donald (Cathy) Harris of Freeburg, IL,
and Stephen (Connie) Harris of Collinsville, IL;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David (Sharon) Luebbers of Freeburg, IL,
Linda (Jim) Steiner of Tennessee,
Betty Kimura of California,
and Marilyn (Allen) Farnsworth of Millstadt, IL;
and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Parish Hall for debt reduction.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

 Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL, with Fr. Mark Reyling officiating.

 Burial with military honors will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg IL.

Dear sister, You know my thoughts and prayers are with you. I will always remember and cherish the good times we had when you and Dave visited me in California. And the many hours we spent playing scrabble (oh the words he would make up-which often turned out to be right) and cards. See you in a few weeks. Love, Betty

Dave and I were great friends as teens. Don was a friend. Together we have great fun and his father cut the roof of a 37 Chevy which we then used for rabbit hunting in corn fields at night.. I to BBQ at his home and watched as he practiced basketball shots incessantly .. I was there when his father put a basement in after the house was already built. We moved away in the 50s and I lost touch with him and many Freeburg friends.. God rest his soul.......
