“They say there is a reason, they say that time will heal, But neither time nor reason, will change the way we feel. For no one knows the heartache, that lies behind our smiles, No one knows how many times we have broken down and cried. We want to tell you something so there won’t be any doubt, You’re so wonderful to think of, But so hard to be without.”

Dearest Dad,
We hope in our hearts that you have finally found the peace you were looking for. Our hearts are broken and we are not sure if they will ever heal, but we take each day as it comes and do the best we can. We cannot even describe to you what it was like taking the news and what this past week has been for us. These are all times that will forever be scars on our hearts. However, please know that we hold on to our dear friends and family for support and strength during this time. You have always had a special place in our hearts and that will always remain. Please know Dad that we make our promise to you that we will continue to share stories with Liam as he grows older so that he always remembers the great Papa you were. We cannot express the heartache it brings to hear him call out your name, yelling for his “Papa” but it just isn’t the same. We know you are still here for him, and for us…just now in a different way. You are the angel that will always look over us and help guide the way. We miss you more than any words could ever say and would give up anything just to have another day. We promise to always honor you and to think of you everyday. We love you so much and may you rest in peace Dear Dad. Loving and Missing you always!

Robert, Nicole, & Liam Martin , Belleville, IL, 62221
