Mr. Schmidt was the owner of Dave Schmidt Truck Service, Inc. He was a member of the St. Louis Drag Boat Association, the Gearjammers Car Club, and the Kentucky Drag Boat Association. Dave’s favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, all of whom were his best friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Harriett, nee Haub, Schmidt.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maryann E., nee Baum, Schmidt, whom he married on August 30, 1963; a son, David (Nancy) Schmidt of Smithton, IL; a daughter, Cheryl (Jason) Becherer, of Smithton, IL; five grandchildren, Trevor (Brooke) Becherer, Mackenzie (James) Hildreth, Justin Schmidt, Jeremy Schmidt, and Jenna Schmidt, all of Smithton, IL; two great-grandchildren, Emerson Hildreth and Baby Becherer due in October; two sisters, Ruth (Frank) Sullivan and Susan Leavell; his grandpup, Stanley; and many more dear friends that were impacted by Dave.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Dave’s Barn. A luncheon and celebration of life will follow the memorial service. Casual attire welcome.
