Deloris Bramstedt, 90, of Belleville, IL, born February 21, 1933, Mascoutah, IL, died Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Brightly Senior Living, Mascoutah, IL.

Deloris was born the oldest of five children. After high school graduation, she worked for Scott Air Force Base until her marriage to Paul W. Bramstedt, on September 10, 1954. Upon Paul’s ordination, the couple moved to Nigeria, Africa, to work as missionaries for the Lutheran Church. After returning to America, Deloris found her calling as a Pastor’s wife, where she became involved in many activities such as working with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, teaching Sunday school, and singing in the choir. As her children grew, Deloris went back to work as an Administrative Assistant where she ran a very tight ship.

Deloris loved flowers and gardening and she could happily spend hours outdoors tending to it. She was a fast-paced walker even when she had to use a walker. Deloris exemplified her “Haake blood” by keeping a clean and orderly house, a trait passed down to other family members as well.

After Deloris’ retirement, she and her husband travelled extensively, going twice to the Holy Land, to Alaska, to the Scandinavian Countries, and to the Rose Bowl Parade. She and Paul put their vacation time-share to good use by vacationing to many spots across America and inviting their children and grandchildren to join them.

Deloris was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Paul W. Bramstedt; her parents, Walter C. and Pauline W., nee Haake, Rowold; one sister, Velma Klingelhoefer; one brother, Norman Rowold; and brother-in-law, Rev. Harry Henneman.

Surviving are her four daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Hill of Smithton, IL, and their children Chad (Lauren), Chelsea, and Chasity; Paula (Bernie) Thibault of Clifton Park, NY, and their children Jacqueline, Liana (Eric), and Andre; Lois (John) Boldt of Houston, TX, and their son Sean; Jane (Ron) Illsley of Boynton Beach, FL, and their children Stephen (Amy), Kirsten (Rob), Megan (Josh), John (Sarah); eight great-grand-children, Noah, Ruth, Micah, Helen, Isabelle, Wesley, Annalise, and Nathaniel; two sisters, Pinky (Eldon) Ahner of New Baden, IL and Dorothy Hennemann, of Algonac, MI; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Rowold; one brother-in-law, Roy Klingelhoefer of Mascoutah; and many nieces and nephews.

Dear Pinky, Eldon, Dorothy, Carolyn and Roy, Thinking of all of you as the numbers of our church family from long ago dwindle here on earth. But what wonderful hope we have in Christ. Sending love and condolences on Deloris's passing.

Our sympathy to the family. Jim and I have very fond memories of your mother and father when they were at St. Mark's. I sat next to your mother in choir for many years. When I sing alto to musical responses in church, I think of your mother. She was the one who taught me these parts. Her smile and laugh are such great memories.
