Butch retired from Phillips 66 in Sauget, IL where he worked as a welder and a stationary operator. His favorite hobby was working on cars and hanging out in his home shop. He was a classic rock music lover and for many years enjoyed playing the drums. Butch enjoyed cooking, especially BBQing and loved time spent with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Marcella “Sally”, nee Schmidt, Schmittling; and a granddaughter, Lainey Schmittling.
Surviving are his children, Tanya (Ross) LoBosco of Freeburg, IL,
Ryan (Janell) Schmittling of O’Fallon, IL,
and Tara (Greg) Harre of Okawville, IL;
the mother of his children and dear friend, Donna Schmittling;
eight grandchildren, Alex and Ethan Lewis, Ava and Collin Schmittling,
and Payten, Jacksen, Adysen, and Jilien Harre;
four sisters, Donna (Richard) Paradis of Pooler, GA, Diana (Thomas) Hemmer of Belleville, IL,
Debbie (Jim) Leroy of Smithton, IL, and Pam (Chris) Balkenbusch of Pocahontas, IL;
two brothers, David (Donna) Schmittling and Dennis (Kim) Schmittling, both of Freeburg, IL;
and many nieces and nephews.
