Don, also known as “Buck”, was born on March 16, 1944, in Middlesboro, KY, to Mirl and Sarah Angie, nee Mason, Collingsworth. He was a coal miner retired from Peabody Coal Company, where he had worked for more than 30 years. An avid fisherman and hunter, Don was a member of the Freeburg Sportsman’s Club and Freeburg Masonic Lodge 418. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald W. Collingsworth Jr., in infancy; his parents; four brothers, James York, Charles Collingsworth, Wayne Collingsworth, and Joe Collingsworth; and a sister, Merle Ruth Hancher.
Surviving are the love of his life, Brigitte, nee Kirchner, Collingsworth, whom he married on April 13, 1967, in Germany;
his loving daughter, Theresa (Ed) Schanz of Belleville, IL;
his loving son, Dennis (Sarah) Collingsworth of Red Bud, IL;
his brothers, Jack Collingsworth of Middlesboro, KY,
and Bill (Linda) Collingsworth of Tazewell, TN;
numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews;
many wonderful friends;
and his furry companion, Charlie.
