Don graduated from Freeburg Community High School. He had worked as a maintenance tech, autobody frame tech, and a SWIC custodian. Don enjoyed oil painting, DIY projects, billiards, and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Caroline “Carrie”, nee Kinkelaar, Feld; and his second wife, Elizabeth Feld.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, nee Vollmer, Korte; three children, Julie (Dennis) Lapka, David (friend, Kathy Kinder) Feld, and Mark (Ruby) Feld; two stepchildren, Steven Korte and Diane Razo; six grandchildren, Christy Lapka and husband, Clif Martin, Donelle (Ryan) Wilkin, Darcie Feld, Leigha (Wesley) Sheldon, Kirsten Feld, and Kyle Feld; two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Eleanor Wilkin; a brother, Denis (Barbara) Feld; and many nieces and nephews.

Private family burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
