Mrs. Kaffer was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved animals, cooking for her family, and watching her favorite Shirley Temple movies. Doris enjoyed her stay at Cambridge House for the past seven years, and made many wonderful friends, both staff and residents. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald M. Kaffer, whom she married on August 19, 1944, and who died on February 25, 1999; one son in infancy, Thomas; her parents, Edmund L. Sr. and Irene I., nee Steffan, Blaufuss; three brothers, Edmund L. Jr. (Jean), Melvin and William (Clara) Blaufuss; two sisters in infancy; two sisters-in-law, Rita and Maggie Blaufuss; a brother-in-law, Bishop Roger L. Kaffer; two daughters-in-law, Linda Kaffer and Charlotte Kaffer; and a son-in-law, Marcel “Bud” Kaemmerer.

Patti (Steve) Wittenauer of Belleville, IL;
and Steve (Sharon) Kaffer of Vaughn, WA;
23 grandchildren;
29 great-grandchildren;
six great-great-grandchildren;
a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert (Liz) Kaffer of Arvada, CO;
numerous nieces and nephews;
her dear friend, Vicki Leombruno of Swansea, IL;
and her little dog, Peanut.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Cambridge House for all the loving care and friendship given to Doris. To quote her, “Hi Sweetie!”, “And that’s the way it is!”, “Yep, yep, yep!”

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017, at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating. Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

I have so many memories of your mom. Removing splinters from my hand that I got from the red fence and how she always called me Bethy. I loved running into her at the Cambridge House and smiling. She was always in a good mood. I’m sorry I missed the visitation but I was ill.
