Mrs. Lemkemeier was employed for ten years at Schmidt-Wuller Dry Goods Store and for 30 years she was the manager of Jeans Uniform Shop, both formerly in downtown Belleville. She was a member of the Retail Clerks Union Local 219. She was a former member of the Belleville Senior Citizens and Belleville Sister Cities, Inc. She was very caring and compassionate to all her relatives and friends. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and bingo with friends at the Belleville Senior Citizens Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58, years, Kenneth Lemkemeier, whom she married on May 15, 1951, and who died on September 7, 2009; her parents, Walter M. and Mary T., nee Fischer, Schaefer; a sister, Irma (Jerome) Forness; a sister, Vera Renth; and a godchild, Dennis Semmler.
Surviving are her brother, Floyd (Madeline) Schaefer of Swansea, IL;
a brother-in-law, Jerome Renth of Swansea, IL, three godchildren, Kevin (Bob) Schaefer of Sacramento, CA, Gary (Theresa) Becker of Smithton, IL, and Sean (Cheryl) Toler of St. Louis, MO;
two nephews, Steve (Joyce) Schaefer and Craig (Cindy) Renth;
four great-nieces, Amanda (Gehrie) Renth, Cameron, Allison, and Jillian Schaefer;
a great-nephew, Erik Renth;
two cousins, Ron (Judy) Schield and Wesley White;
special friends, John and Doris Roach and Don Semmler;
and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with the Rev. Cari Frus officiating. According to Doris’s wishes, cremation was held. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, at a later date.
