Dorothy Eileen Clark, 95, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away peacefully at 4:40 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016, at St. Paul’s Home, Belleville, IL, with her daughters by her side.

She was born on March 22, 1921, in Oreana, IL, the daughter of Leslie Sr. and Wanetta (Allen), Mathias.  She married Robert A. Clark on September 28, 1940, in St. Louis, MO.  He preceded her in death on April 10, 1974.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol (Clark) Jarrell and life partner, Michael Hagen of Belleville, IL, Linda (Dutch) Meisenhelter of Peoria, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leslie Mathias Jr.; and two sisters, Pauline Butler and Ruby Graham.

Dorothy and Robert loved to travel and enjoyed exploring the United States, Canada and Mexico.  She was a member of the Moose, and in her early years, she enjoyed bowling and participating in a weekly bowling league.  She was also a member of the Kiwaniannes and enjoyed volunteering for various projects.

Dorothy was a partner in Mary’s Café and then worked with her husband in a family owned wholesale pet supply business.  After Robert passed away she worked at Van Law’s until she retired in 1983.

Her family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul’s Home and Heartland Hospice Care for the wonderful, kind and considerate care they gave to Dorothy in her last few weeks.

According to her wishes, private family services will be held.  There will be no visitation.  Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
