Dorothy C. Gronkiewicz, nee Jatczak, 87, of Belleville, IL, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, in Northridge, CA, where she was staying with her son and his family.

She was born January 15, 1930 in Chicago and was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Thaddeus, whom she married August 23, 1952, her parents, Helen and Walter Jatczak; her sister, Jacqueline Wierbicki, and brother, Robert Jatczak.

Dorothy was a parishioner at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, for 40 years, a member of St. Teresa’s Legion of Mary, American Legion Auxiliary – Post 58, Scott Air Force Base Associate Wives Club. She was a long-time volunteer with the Shelter Shop and served as an election judge.

Loving mother of Christine (Terry Heilman) of Chicago, IL, Cynthia (Dr. Mark) Tomera of River Forest, IL, David (Rocella) Gronkiewicz of Porter Ranch, CA, and Diane (Kent) Miller of Oakton, VA; proud grandmother of Alec Heilman, Mark Jr. and Christopher Tomera, John and Catherine Gronkiewicz, and Matthew and Stephanie Miller. Dorothy also is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Barbara Jatczak of Hickory Hills, IL and nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation:  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral procession will leave at 9:10 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, for a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. David Darin officiating. Interment will be at 11:15 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, alongside her beloved husband.
