Mrs. Sauerwein was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning and crocheting. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Belleville, IL, and an honorary life member of Henry Raab School PTA. Dorothy volunteered at St. Paul’s Nursing Home and served as an election judge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin C. Sauerwein; her parents, Frank W. and Katherine, nee Brauer, Klein; two brothers, George and Walter Klein; and one sister, Selma Luehder.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Tylka of Belleville, IL;
a son, Thomas (Nancy) Sauerwein, of Belleville, IL;
five grandchildren;
two step-grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren;
and three step-great-grandchildren.
The Sauerwein family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Rosewood Care Center and Heartland Hospice for their loving care and support for Dorothy.
