Mr. Sartain worked as a biomedical technician in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 28 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Jane, nee Brammer, Sartain, whom he married on February 5, 1954, and who died on September 14, 2009; a daughter, Suzanne Cooper; his parents, William and Laura, nee Smithey, Sartain; six brothers; and five sisters.
Surviving are a daughter, Amanda (Brian) Gundlach; a son, Earl Eugene Sartain II; a granddaughter, Abigail (Scott) Cline; a great-granddaughter, Avery Jane Cline; and many nieces and nephews.
